Type Locality and Naming

Along the Karnab terrace, Karnabchul steppe. G.F. Tetukhin, 1951 (127, p.34). Stratotype on the right bank of the Kaskadarya River. Lower group in the Karnab Complex (Karnab Gr). The deposits of the Sukaytin terrace (= ?Sukaytin Gr, complex) are included in the Azkamar Gr (complex), and in the Karnab Gr (complex).

Synonym: Karnab Complex, Карнабский компл.


Lithology and Thickness

Alluvial-proluvial pebbles and conglomerates with a cover of loess and sandy-loam deposits. Thickness from 7-12 to 270m (in the foothill depressions).

Lower contact

Regional extent

Basin of the Kaskadarya and Zarafshan rivers, IV (Shorkuduk) and V (Karnab) terraces, Zirabulak-Ziaetdin district. Correlated with the Karakol Fm and the Ilyak Gr (complex) of the basins of the Syrdarya and Amudarya rivers (469).
